Research papers are invited for the International Journal of Knowledge and
Web Intelligence (IJKWI).

Papers should be original and approximately 10-20 pages in length.

About The Journal

The International Journal of Knowledge and Web Intelligence proposes and fosters discussion on the techniques, systems, methods and applications that help the World Wide Web to transform from a static data and information repository into an interactive, dynamic, transparent and secure knowledge and service network. The Web has become a ubiquitous tool for finding and sharing information, and conducting business, learning and entertainment. This journal is committed to deepening the understanding of enabling technologies for applying and developing the Web as a global information repository as well as computational, cognitive and social foundations of the Web.


The journal publishes original papers, review papers, technical reports, survey papers, case studies, conference reports, book reviews, notes, commentaries, and issues. Special issues devoted to important topics in Knowledge and Web Intelligence will occasionally be published.


Topics of interest to IJKWI include, but not limited to:

* Intelligently searching and navigating the Web
* Personalized access to the Web and recommender systems
* Innovations, applications and issues in the domain of
intelligent technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining and Machine Learning) for the Web.
* XML data mining, querying and management
* Ontology generation, learning and reasoning
* Semantic Web and Web 2.0
* Web Usage, Content and Structure Mining
* Web-based decision support systems
* Intelligent human-web interaction
* Social network analysis and Web blog mining


Submission Procedure

The manuscript, in English and not to exceed 20 pages, must be in Microsoft-Word or PDF file. There are no formatting requirements. Special cases exceeding page limit will be considered. Please submit your paper to Dr. Richi Nayak
(r.nayak@qut.edu.au) or Prof. Lakhmi Jain (Lakhmi.Jain@unisa.edu.au) as an e-mail attachment. The authors are advised to suggest names, affiliations, and full contact information including email addresses of at least three knowledgeable individuals who have published in the subject area of the paper.

Proposal for the special issue on emerging topics are also invited.

The Web 2.0 and Social Software is often attributed with a high potential=
for addressing today's challenges in knowledge management and distributed=
collaboration. This development has already reached industry. Using the t=
erm Enterprise 2.0, different possibilities to use Social Software in ente=
rprises are researched. But also in academia, cooperation to generate new =
knowledge, and to add it to the scientific discourse may radically change =
under open Web 2.0 conditions. In addition, teaching and learning scenario=
s might be moved towards technology enhanced lifelong learning communities=
. The aim of this workshop is to discuss the application of Social Softwar=
e in academia (research as well as teaching and learning) - and how these =
new kinds of software might change the whole setting - make new ways of do=
ing research or teaching and learning possible or at least easier to do.

ISEA2011

MISSION

ISEA International is a nonprofit organization fostering interdisciplinary
academic discourse and exchange among culturally diverse organizations and
individuals working with art, science and emerging technologies.

The ISEA International Foundation Board oversees the selection of host
organizations for the annual International Symposium on Electronic Art,
(ISEA) a gathering of the international art, science and technology
community.

ISEA International is committed to diversity and supports proposals from
both developed and developing countries. ISEA International acknowledges
that the circumstances of the Host Organization may vary considerably and
these circumstances will be taken into account. It also encourages
partnerships between developed and developing countries to submit proposals.

ISEA2009 is hosted by the University of Ulster and will take place in
Northern Ireland from 23 August ? 1 September

ISEA2010 is hosted by Medienwerk NRW in the context of RUHR.2010, European
Capital of Culture and will take place in the cities of the German Ruhr
region (Dortmund, Essen, Duisburg) from 20 ? 29 August 2010

BACKGROUND

The series of symposia known as the International Symposium on Electronic
Art was initiated in 1988 to create and maintain an international network of
organizations and individuals active in the field of the electronic arts. In
1990 this network took shape as an association, founded in The Netherlands,
called the Inter-Society for the Electronic Arts (ISEA).

In 2006 the Inter-Society for the Electronic Arts was discontinued as a
membership organization and was replaced with the ISEA International
Foundation. In 2009 a new operational base ISEA Headquarters will be
established at the University of Brighton.

The aims of ISEA International and of the ISEA Symposia are

- Creation of a structured approach towards the problems and potentials of
electronic arts

- Promotion of communication between organizations and individuals and
promotion of interdisciplinarity and cross-cultural communication /
cooperation between the arts and the fields of technology, science,
education, and industry.

- Research, present and exhibit work related to ISEA?s mission.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Submissions will be accepted from:

Category 1: Educational Institutions (Universities, Art schools, Museums
etc.); Artistic, Cultural or Scientific Organizations.

Category 2*: Congress organizing bureaus;

Category 3**: Umbrella organizations created for the purpose of hosting an
ISEA Symposium.

*Category 2 applicants must be able to demonstrate evidence of organizing
earlier, comparable and successful events.

**Category 3 applicants must show evidence of support and thus prove the
feasibility of their financial plan.

SELECTION PROCESS AND DEADLINES

All interested Hose Organizations are strongly recommended to contact ISEA
Headquarters before submitting their proposal. A submission of interest
shall be submitted first, followed by a full proposal. All shortlisted Host
Organizations are invited to make a presentation about their bid at ISEA2009
in Belfast.

SUBMISSION SCHEDULE

FRIDAY 26 JUNE 2009: Deadline for letters of interest - indicating location,
host organization, year, and (if possible) dates of the proposed Symposium
FRIDAY 3 JULY 2009: Shortlisted Host Organizations invited to make full
proposal
FRIDAY 14 AUGUST 2009: Deadline for full proposal
FRIDAY 28 AUGUST 2009: Presentation of bid at ISEA2009 Belfast
FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 2009: Final deadline for adjustments
FRIDAY 25 SEPTEMBER 2009: Notification of successful Host Organization
